Majestic Farewell...
Susan Rudnicki... Honey Bee Rescuer and friend of all animals and nature... There is so much to say about you, but... in the end it all comes down to one word... LOVE.
Your soul was so full of compassion and you have left so much of your heart here with us--and for this, we thank you from the depth of our being.
Your other feathered babies, Katchka, Billy, Penelope, Hillary and Natasha have all made it safely to Lucky Duck Sanctuary (thank you, Yvette) where they will be loved and cared for, don't you worry, dear friend.
Now joined with your beloved little TicTic duck who was waitng for you along the rainbow bridge, journey together in peace. This world is a lonlier place without you...
You will not be forgotten.

Poppa Mallard Day Picnic--RSVP Now!
Our 2nd annual Poppa Mallard Day Picnic is Saturday, June 15th from noon to whenever!
If you haven't already, please RSVP by email, or select "GOING" on our Facebook event by Monday June 10th if you plan on attending. CAREFUL... selecting "Interested" does NOT reserve you a crown.
Sorry, but no RSVP, no crown--and no crown, no entry!
Royal Fun: This year we will be treating our royal subjects to crowns, temporary tattoos and face jewels (while supplies last)!
Food & Drink: Pizza, cake, soda, snacks and a watermelon party for our ducks and geese in the enclosures! Mmm-mmm! Yummy! Also for those of you over 21, there will be an assortment of beer and wine coolers.
Activities: The ceremonial viewing of the "Lewis Maruzo" memorial plaque, a special watermelon celebration in our duck & goose enclosures, beachball volleyball, swimming and, in the evening, karaoke and Dean & Crowley SORRY!
Majestic T-Shirts
Our new Waterfowl Memorial T-shirts and our classic Muckin' Fun for Everyone t-shirts are now being sold, printed and shipped by Chook Shirts. This change means a much bigger chunk of the proceeds are now received by our sanctuary. Thank you so much for all of your help and services, Jenn!
Photo Contest
The May 31st submission deadline has come and gone! Our judges will be gathering soon to review all of your photos and our winners will be announced July 1st!
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped us raise $750 for our sanctuary--WOW!!! These funds will go directly to our next feed order, which will be arriving in a few weeks. Amazing!
Marv Goes to School
Little Marv is all grown up and a few weeks ago, we accompanied him and his Momma Duck Lisa on their first trip to pre-school where he helped us teach three classrooms of children (and adults!) all about ducks.
Ducks are special pets who should not be abandoned on ponds, require special diets (not bread!) and who can live ten years or more when properly cared for. Stickers for everyone and watch out for those Rhinos (who one preschooler warned us could be a terrible backyard threat to our ducks--oh my!).
For The Birds
Six years ago, we helped remove Yolanda and Lil Ms Bee from an overcrowding situation where we happened upon a student and his camera. And now, his documentary For The Birds is up on the big screen!
Featured in the NY Times, this touching story will endear you to a warm-hearted woman named Kathy who became overwhelmed by her beloved flock. In a world where we can be quick to judge and even quicker to respond with anger, this film will take you on an unexpected journey into a realm of compassion.
Watch as Kim and Kathy escort Yolanda the goose from her former life into her new Majestic one--and you may even spot Lil Ms Bee making a cameo appearance in the movie as well!
On special invite, Kim and Tony drove to NYC to catch the premier showing of this film directed by Richard Miron and Produced by Jeffrey Star and wow... what a night. This is an amazing piece of work, which offers a unique insight that is not to be missed.
Congrats, Richard and Jeffrey, and thank you for making us feel so welcome. You have truly taken our breath away throughout this entire experience!
Sanctuary Updates
Our 12 new duck houses and 6 new goose barns are coming along very well; in fact, the photo below is a little behind the times because the first 8 are now painted!
Special thanks to Jon, Allison and Kayla for volunteering for Barn Painting Day! Aside from the giant wood spider incident, the afternoon went by without a hitch and the exterior is all set except for the trim, which we'll get to soon.
And... Our new quarantine pen mats arrived from Elite Garage Floors and they look spectacular! These outdoor mats will endure all kinds of weather and should last us for the life of our sanctuary. We will be moving our former mats into TinTin's Tubhouse.
