Go to Ducks
and Geese Adopted Page 57|
Marvin was a human-imprinted Khaki Campbell who was dropped off in somenone's front yard. He was one of the FRIENDLIEST ducks we've ever had at our sanctuary. He followed us around, ran up and gave just about everyone hugs--he was just an all around good boy.
Upon arriving we matchedhim up with Lil Ms. Bee (Indian
Runner/Khaki Campbell hybrid) who came from an unsanitary, hoarding situation. She was the first duck he'd ever seen and wasn't sure quite what to make of her, but... they quickly fell madly in love.
Marvin waited at our sanctuary for his new home for 5 years before passing away unexpectedly. He had been diagnosed with a heart murmur, which was one of the reasons we think people passed on adopting him.
Marvin passed away on 10/27/17 and will be forever missed by all who knew him...
Marvin & Bee, Marvin & Bee They'll go down in history
They're Marvin & Bee...
Marvin, Marvin, Marvin God made him out of clay, Marvin, Marvin, Marvin He follows Bee all day!
Marvin, Marvin, Marvin
God made him out of clay,
Marvin, Marvin, Marvin
He follows ME all day!
Joxephine "Joxy & Kyoto were among ten young ducks who were dropped off and abandoned at a condo complex. Locals believe they were hatched out at a nearby high school and then dumped off by a teacher. They will be pursuing the issue further in an attempt to put a stop to this neglectful and irresponsible practice.
These are friendly little ducks who come right up to greet us, are open to being held and petted and who love healthy treats (watermelon, lettuce, dried meal worms, nightcrawlers) and who love the garden hose--SPLASHING is FUN!!!
These beautiful ladies went to a safe and loving home with a little flock of friends for the girls to meet!
Ruby (brown Muscovy) and Liberty (black & white Muscovy) were found and rescued in a parking lot and brought to our sanctuary in July of 2017. While we're unsure of their hatch dates, we estimated them to be about a year old at that time.
These ladies were extremely shy when they first arrived at our sanctuary, but over the course of a few months, they learned that mealy worm treats appear to trickle out of our pockets. Both girls took to following us around, trilling behind us. Liberty is a bit braver than her sister Ruby, and six months after arriving finally let us pet and hold her!
Both girls were adopted together to a new home with two male Muscovy ducks and a predator proof pen with a barn and full aviary.
Lincoln was dropped off on a pond with another Pekin who was removed by an environmantal protection agency a few months before him when he/she succumbed to a fish hook injury. It's unknown what happened to his partner afterwards, but poor little Lincoln was left all alone.
Many members of the community were concerned with Lincoln's welfare and when the weather turned cold, quite a few people stepped up in an effort to rescue him and bring him to us.
While Lincoln's broken bill had fully healed, he had a terrible bacterial infection in his right tear duct. It took months of daily oral medications and injections along with three seperate vet procedures to remedy the situation. If he had not come to us, it likely would have moved to his eye and brain, but thankfully--he made a full recovery!
Lincoln was adopted by a wonderful family who will be fawning all over him for the rest of his life!
Oreo was abandoned on a pond by her former family and then rescued and brought to another sanctuary. Unfortunately, weasels broke into her pen and she was the only survivor. The sanctuary reached out to us, and we instantly agreed to take her. As soon as she arrived, we rushed her to our vet to immediately assess the bite wounds on her cheeks and head as well as the infection and swelling brewing in her neck.
Thankfully, Oreo had no broken bones or dislocations from the attack, but her infection was severe. Following a long round of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory meds, pain medication and soothing meds to coat her throat and stomach we are so thankful to say, Oreo has fully recovered!
Oreo also received complimentary Laser Therapy from Wizard of Paws in Colchester CT to help relieve swelling and provide further comfort--and she LOVED it!
Oreo was adopted by her loving new family and is living safely in their predator proof pen with a number of other ducky friends!
Chuck (name inspired by the television series "Supernatural") was discovered abandoned on a pond. He arrived at our sanctuary in July of 2018, but not before spending a week with a foster family where he spent time indoors as a house duck and outdoors in their predator-proof duck pen.
While Chuck was a little nervous about being caught, once safely in his foster family's arms, he settled right in and loved being petted on his tummy and stroked gently on his bill. He was very open to a diaper harness and very friendly with their other ducks.
Almost as soon as Chuck finished his stay in foster care and arrived at our sanctuary, he was adopted by his new family--who have THREE girls! Chuck loves having other duck friends around--especially lady friends!
