Majestic Diary

March 26, 2008

Today I got an email... the first duck we ever adopted out passed away... Standish duck. I remember when we rescued him from Spaulding Pond in Norwich. I introduced him to his new family while he was still in quarantine. He was a BIG boy and he had the biggest head--I told them, "He is very smart!" So funny...

They became our good friends after that and did a lot to help ducks and geese, but then a rift fell between us. If you think you can't get in a fight over ducks, I assure you that you most certainly can. They were fostering some of our ducks until we could expand enough to fit in all of our rescues. They didn't appreciate it when we were ready to come get our fosters. There were doing some other things too, but I don't want to go into that.

Suffice it to say, they wouldn't let us on the property. We had to go in with the police to collect our ducks and bring them back here. We severed our ties after that, but we still wish them well. They were good people with good hearts. Sometimes our hearts cloud our minds though.  Sometimes...

Anyway... it was sad when we had our falling out.  Sadder still that today Standish passed away. They sent an email letting me know. They knew I would want to know.
