Ducks and Geese Adopted

Here are photos of the ducks and geese that we have placed in permanent homes so far. We love to hear from their new families. If you have updated photos of a duck or goose you have adopted from us, or a story to share about them, please email us, so we can update this page for you.

Sheldon was discovered living in a small canal in 2012 when a new family moved to the area. For years they helped take care of him and then brought him to our sanctuary to prevent him from succumbing to injury (they rescued Steve-O and Evie from the same location).

Sheldon's original caretakers/rescuers purchased land especially for him, to build a safe enclosure for Sheldon and a female rescued goose named Lucy in 2019, but... sadly Sheldon developed cancer in his liver that matastized to his heart and we had to guide him comfortably along his way. His rescuers visited him before he left this world and were able to say farewell to this amazing old boy.

Steve-O was rescued with his girlfriend Evie (and Sheldon the gander). They had bothe been living on a small canal where they had been abandoned, but after years into their stay, Evie broke and dislocated toes on one of her feet. Once at our sanctuary, and receiving plenty of vet care (and living in our house with us for a while), Evie was walking again (running, actually!), and moved outside with her Steve-O again!

Their orginal caretakers/rescuers purchased land especially for the trio, to build a safe enclosure for them, but... sadly Steve-O (who was at least 8 years old, perhaps older) developed liver cancer and we had to guide him comfortably along his way.

In 15 years of rescuing, and over 500 waterfowl, we have NEVER seen a duck (or goose) so loyally devoted and protective of his mate. This brave little guy would step between everyone and everthing that came towards his beloved Evie. When still abandoned, he drove Canada geese over 20 feet away from her, before circling back to guard her again (we saw the video!) and when we entered their pen, we always had to ask permission before approaching her (and his answer was usually "No!" --so funny! He will be dearly missed, and remembered Forever.

Lucy was abandoned on a pond and then rescued in November of 2019. Her feathers are soaking wet and she was starving when she arrived at our sanctuary, so she had to stay with our retired female ducks in the barn through the winter. By March, she was waterproof and adoptable and she immediately found her new home! Today she shares a barn with her own flock of geese--including a boyfriend named Turnip!

Billy-Cha was exposed to starvation and extreme temperatures before coming to Majestic in January of 2011. He was a big boy at that time and most likely a spring 2010 hatch.

The upper tip of Billy-Cha's bill was cut off by his prior owners, exposing his tongue and putting him at risk of frostbite. Unfortunately he did arrive with frostbite on his face caruncles and on his webbed feet (losing one toe tip). Thankfully he made a full Majestic recovery!

Billy is a very LARGE (20 lbs!), interactive and friendly duck! He comes up to greet us whenever he hears us in the barn. He loves to have lengthy chats about how grand he is! While in our care he fell in love with his Scovy girlfriend Bella and spent many years adoring her before she passed away. He spent his retirement years in the company of Muscovy gal "17" although he never adored her the way he did his first love.

As AMAZING and WONDERFUL as this Billy-Cha was, he was never chosen for adoption. In 2019 Billy developed a benign, but inoperable tumor near his hip joint. Specialized care included joint care medications and pain medications. Sadly, his tumor eventually grew to a point where the pain meds weren't helping any he could no longer walk. Not wanting to see him in any discomfort nor sitting in the same place in the corner of his barn, we carried him around for a couple of weeks, so he could go swimming and sit outside in the spring sunshine.

On April 30th, 2020 we helped Billy-Cha cross over to the other side...
