Ducks and Geese Adopted

Here are photos of the ducks and geese that we have placed in permanent homes so far. We love to hear from their new families. If you have updated photos of a duck or goose you have adopted from us, or a story to share about them, please email us, so we can update this page for you.

Lil Ms Bee is an Indian Runner/Khaki Campbell hybrid who came to us from an unsanitary, hoarding situation in February of 2012. She lived with us for eight years and spent most of that time with her boyfriend Marvin (who accidentally broke her wing at one point... oh, Marvin!). Bee loved all kinds of enrichments and bug and worm catching. She also led her flock with grace, kindness and dignity before passing the baton to her new friend Evie.

Lil Ms Bee was diagnosed with cancer and spent her last six weeks in our house with us, so we could dote over her and feed her all kinds of treats. In the end, her passing was peaceful at the hands of our vet while we stayed with her always... always... until she whispered away to be with Marvin again...

Adopted Ducks Names:  Ottis (formerly Sprout) and Lucy Loo

My Story: I (Ottis) was rescued as a duckling and then Majestic adopted me out into an amazing indoor home. I have worn ducky diapers and lived in a house--although, I did go outside to swim in my kiddy pool and play on the deck. After joining my new family, they took in Lucy Loo when her family could no longer take care of her anymore. Sadly, my family's situation changed quite suddenly, and through many tears, they surrendered me back to Majestic to be sure I'd be happy forever. Majestic let me bring Lucy Loo along with me too! I'm okay with moving into an outside pen but it has to be completely (and I mean COMPLETELY) predator proof--with top cover too. But if I do live outside, my new family needs to come and visit me as often as they can because I LOVE people (and secretly, I think I am one).

Things You Should Know About Me:  I do get very excited around people and try to bite and hold onto them, so they can't get away from me sometimes. It's probably not a good idea to let small children get too close to me. I can be a little fresh!

Favorite Movie:  The Odd Couple

Ottis' Favorite Place:  Anywhere with people because I'm super human-imprinted and I believe I'm a person too!

Lucy Loo's Favorite Place:  Anywhere away from people. I know I'm beautiful, but I need you to love me from a distance please!

Favorite Food:  Nightcrawlers, watermelon, mealy worms and lettuce

Favorite Drink:  Clean water please.

Favorite Colors: White & orange

Ottis' Pet Peeves:  Ducks who believe they are ducks! And big water, I much prefer the safety of my kiddy pool, thank you very much!

Lucy Loo's Pet Peeves:  Ducks who believe they are people!

Ottis' Likes:  Being with people all the time! Although, sometimes I get a little over excited and try to grab ahold of those I love with a good bite because I don't want them to get away because I love them so very much!

Lucy Loo's' Likes:  When people just leave me to be a duck--no cuddles please! I'm so shy!

Special Qualities:   Ottis is very human imprinted and would like a LOT of human attention. He's afraid of other boy ducks and can't be penned with them (he's even afraid of bolder girl ducks, which is why he likes his shy Lucy Loo).

Happily Ever After:   Ottis and Lucy Loo found their home within weeks of their return to our sanctuary and it's an amazing one too! These days they can be found spending their days with a few other lady ducks and a momma duck who loves them very much and who brings Ottis into her home for special snuggle time!
