Ducks and Geese Adopted

Here are photos of the ducks and geese that we have placed in permanent homes so far. We love to hear from their new families. If you have updated photos of a duck or goose you have adopted from us, or a story to share about them, please email us, so we can update this page for you.

Valkyrie was dumped on a pond in New Britain. She arrived with a broken and severely infected toe, wing tip injuries from being over-mated by wild Mallards and capillary worms. Her recovery required 6 weeks of rest and treatment, but she made a full recovery!

Heimdall and Brunhilda were rescued from the same pond as Valkryie. We assembled a rescue team and went back for her two friends. All 3 were adopted together and are in their new and loving home!

Charlie Chuff Chuff was dumped in a dangerous location in NY. Once in hand, his rescuer had no place to bring him, so we contacted one of our PA adopters, who has fostered for us before, and she welcomed Charlie into her goose barn until we could find him a home. He was so happy to be with other birds before (even if they were geese!).

Daffy is a female Muscovy duck who was rescued after falling off of a rooftop in Florida. The family took care of her while searching for someone to help. They eventually reached out to us and we networked and found an adopter in their area. Daffy was introduced to another rescued Muscovy duckling and the two became rapid friends!

Clyde is a female Khaki Campbell who was living in NH and the last of her flock to survive hawk attacks. At the same time Clyde’s family reached out to us for help, another family in ME reached out in desperate need of a new companion for their lonely duck after one of their beloved pets passed away, despite vet intervention. This was a match made in heaven and we were so thrilled to be a part of this direct placement! Happily ever after for everyone!

Grace and Kelly were discovered on a pond in New Haven, CT. Locals reached out to us and then rescued these two girls and brought them straight to us! We had a home already waiting to adopt them, but both girls tested positive for hook and tapeworm. We addressed the issue here and once they re-tested and confirmed all-clear, they went on their way to join their new family.

Marilyn Monroe was rescued from a pond in NJ where she was dumped as a very young duck. She was rescued and brought to one of our former adopters in PA for temporary foster care until we could find a home for her. She was soon adopted by the same family who adopted Loche & Key (male Scovies rescued from Mohegan land).

Someone rescued Philip and brought him to a Wildlife Rehabber thinking he was a wild Mallard, but the rehabber immediately recognized that he’s a Call duck. They arranged for him to be transferred safely to our sanctuary. We had a family waiting to foster-to-adopt a Call duck, so he immediately had a home waiting for him!

Smokey was the lone survivor of her flock. Finally recognizing that they were not properly protecting their ducks from predators and realizing Smokey was lonely, the family decided to surrender her to us. Smokey was quickly adopted and went to the same family who adopted Grace & Kelly!

Willow is a female Welsh Harlequin duck who was rescued from a pond where she was dropped off. Fortunately, the people living adjacent to the pond, watched her closely and waited for her to move into a position where they could safely remove her and bring her to us. Willow was immediately lined up with her new family, but had to wait out some winter weather before her new Poppa Duck could pilot his way up to our sanctuary to adopt her. It was well worth the wait and now Willow is living with Amber & BamBam = a.k.a. Wamber!

Lil Mama was the lone survivor of her flock. Finally recognizing that they were not properly protecting their ducks from their own chickens, and realizing Mama was lonely, the family decided to surrender her to us, but she arrived with a serious eye infection. Lil Mama was was placed into a foster-to-adopt situation, but despite all vet intervention, she was not able to overcome her injury.

Lisco was discovered on someone’s front yard where she was too afraid to move for a few days. After the home owners reached out for help, one of our rescue volunteers walked right over and picked her up! Before we could even arrange for transportation to our PA foster home, we found TWO homes for her! Who to chose?! It was a nice problem to have. Another happily ever after...

Biscuit and Minnow were saved from a raccoon attack and brought into their family’s home to ensure their immediate safety. Although much-loved, their family feared for their lives and reached out to us to quickly find them a safe and loving new home. We found safe haven for the ladies within 24 hours and the family got in their car and drove them across 4 states to get them to their new home.
