I got quite a few emails
from one guy just before the holidays. I had taken the time to answer
dozens of questions about his flock of geese. During one Q & A
correspondence, he mentioned that he had sent us a $50 donation to thank
us for our help. I thanked him for his generosity and wished him well.
A couple weeks later, I
emailed him with concern that his check had not arrived. He didn't
reply, so I deduced he had never sent the check and moved on.
Then one day, he emailed
because he had another goose question he needed help with. After asking
his question, he asked if I ever received his check. I looked over at
Tony who was sitting across the way and said, "This guy must think I'm a
complete idiot." I emailed back and confirmed that we had not. He
emailed back and said it was a bank check and he would go to the bank
and issue a stop payment. (yeah… right… whatever…)
A week or so later he
emailed again. He said that the bank had verified it was not cashed,
stopped payment and issued him a replacement check. He told me he mailed
the replacement check and to watch for it. Oh, and… by the way… he
wanted to know if I could take all of his geese because he couldn't
handle the responsibility. Apparently he did think I was an idiot. I
told him we had a full house with a waiting list and could not assist.
Brace yourselves for this shocker. The "replacement" check never arrived
either. |
