Majestic Diary

May 27, 2010

Jessie had toe surgery today. Well, she had to have her badly broken toe amputated because it was too damaged to splint. I have been worrying about it all this week and all last night and all this morning and all today... My poor little girl...

I called the vet and he said she did fine and is recovering now. She's still groggy and he gave her an injection to control her pain for the next 24 hours. I'll give her pain meds tomorrow morning.

I set up the basement infirmary for her all nice and clean and cozy and pretty. I brought in the fence too, so I can divide it in half and bring Barney inside for the night to keep her company.

She'll be inside for 10-14 days before her sutchers come out and then she will be able to go back outside again.

This weekend I'll be crawling through the pens trying to figure out what she managed to stub her toe on, and then I'm going to fix it. There's a little ridge near the courtyard pond. It's very subtle, but I'm going to smooth it out with some cement to make sure that wasn't the culprit. Isabel is all set to help. We'll do it together!
