Majestic Diary

Majestic Diary

August 10, 2013

I noticed one of Lil Ms. Bee's wings was drooping to the ground and caught her to have a closer look. I opened up her good wing to get a good feel for how it should feel and then slowly and gently extended her drooping wing. I only opened it a little ways before realizing it felt broken. I quickly scooped her up into a pet carrier, called our vet and headed out the door.

An x-ray at the vet confirmed that she has a broken wing in THREE places! OH NO! All of them at her "wrist." Looks like Marvin got a little excited about his love for her and accidentally stepped on her wing.

So our vet splinted her wing for her and she will go back Tuesday to check and make sure it's still in place and then she'll have surgery on Friday to pin the bones. She'll need to stay in the house for 3 weeks after surgery and then she can go back outside in her own private area (where Marvin can't reach her) for another 3-4 weeks after that.

Poor Lil Ms. Bee!

Two fractures in her Ulna and one dangerous break in her Radius. We're lucky that didn't hit the nearby artery.
